Shunning the rival minor attraction of Latitude, over seventy quizzers filled Wickham Market Village Hall on Friday night to flex their mental muscles and, at ‘halftime’, enjoy a ‘brain-food’ fish and chip supper. There was also a raffle with an eclectic range of prizes, and the bar was well-frequented, without too much apparent detriment to performance. Quizmaster Kevin Bolton (better known to us as singer with The Biscuit Brothers) kept admirable order – and learnt how to pronounce – at least- ‘quinquereme’ . Our thanks to him, and to organisers, Society Secretary, Mike Cooper, and User Group member, Barbara Hercliffe, who, though only seen as blurs for most of the evening, also did a fantastic job, and Committee member Steve Elliott and friends who devised the questions.
Team Ding Dong (Leslie Phillips fans?), the less modest three-quarters of which pictured on the right, were the eventual winners after nine hard-fought rounds, while the winning entry for the most amusing team name prize is unprintable here!
Thanks to all who attended and our volunteer helpers on the night; your generosity has added over £1,000 to the re-build funds. We hope you all had a great time and, please, keep a lookout for our next George event/get-together.
