Meet the Team

Mike Cooper is a retired qualified accountant with experience of large and small enterprises.  He worked for a major international firm of accounts for 17 years and then was finance director for two prominent local companies.  Mike has been Treasurer of St Elizabeth Hospice and currently sits on the Finance & Employment Committee at Suffolk New College.  Mike is the Society’s Company Secretary and Finance Officer.

Steve Elliott has had a career in a large utility company in technical roles.  His background is broad and includes working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver large-scale projects – with much of his work in a formal project management environment.  Steve is the Society’s Compliance Officer.

Simon Harrington retired from a career running his own business following years working in local government. He is active in multiple local organisations and roles and believes strongly in payback to the community in later years of life.

George Hering is a business owner and consultant with expertise in marketing and brand development.  He is currently involved in the community as a Trustee of the Wickham Market Partnership and as a Director of Inspirations CIC, a community led shop.

Sue Hering is an experienced office administrator and bookkeeper and has worked independently for a number of clients in Suffolk.  She has run a busy accounts office, payroll for up to 75 personnel and accounts preparation.  Sue is the Society’s Treasurer.

Robin Nielsen is a heritage consultant experienced in the project management of large construction-related archaeological and historic buildings projects.  He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and is responsible for coordinating the Society’s grant applications and addressing heritage issues.  Robin is Vice Chair of the Society.

Colin Owens has many years’ experience in General Management, Change Management and Project Management of multinational, multidisciplined teams.  Community engagement includes successful funding and project management of the construction of Wickham Market Youth Football Club Pavilion: Founding Director of Suffolk Libraries IPS: Founding Director of Inspirations CIC (community shop); Member of the community group that established the community/commercial partnership for purchase and operations of Lehmann House (a health, care and wellbeing centre) and Founding Chairman of Wickham Market Town Team.

Tony Stroker is a retired teacher who has written prolifically and seen some of his work performed on the professional stage. He has a deep interest in music and the performing arts and is hoping to encourage and support a wide range of cultural activities in the pub, as well as editing a new book telling the story of The George and its place in Wickham Market’s history.

Bill Wolff-Evans is a local business owner with experience in brand management, marketing, design, communications, hospitality and food.  He managed Manchester United’s brand for 10 years and ran his own graphic design agency for 15 years.  Bill is the Society’s Chair.
